The 1st time that kite racing came to the Gulf and the host nation certainly put on a great show. Over 26 countries competed for this Asian Continental Championships in Qatar in very light winds- averaging 6knots. Going into the medal Races, Olly and steph were in the lead in their divisions.
Olly needed to get top 5 results and needed to sail consistently without any tangles since none of the medal races could be discarded. Olly’s main rival had no pressure and just kept Olly on his toes, although Olly was still 4 points clear and really showed the men that he is still the man to beat.

The medal races were sailed in very light winds and a mishap in race 3 cost steph her 1st place position. She went into race 4 needing to beat Eleanor from Russia but as the wind continued to drop, steph struggled to hold Eleanor off. Both of them were on equal points and since Eleanor beat steph in the final race, she takes the win.
