The formula Kite Race World Championshipsin Istanbul attracted the fastest men and woman from
over 20 countries to form a 5 day show down on the Black Sea. The New 2015 North race Ltd
69 was the best weapon of choice with this board never outside the top 3 rankings.
The first 2 days of qualifying saw stronger winds where riders used 11 & 15 mtr kites in a
series of races to determine a gold and silver fleet split for the following 2 days. The men’s
racing was dominated by Olly Bridge and Maxime Nocher with Blasco Ozog showing some great
form following his appendix surgery a few weeks ago. This year saw a return to full
power, Steph Bidge who showed that from the beginning she was in it to win it!
It showed all signs of making history with a double victory for mum and son looking promising.
However, a bad kite decision and poor race management cost Olly his World Tittle on day 4.
The regatta was now in the hands of Maxime Nocher who went into medal race day on 14 points,
well clear of any other top 3 riders. All 4 medal races were won by Olly Bridge bringing
him closer to the top 3 positions but it was not enough to make up for the damage done the
